Signs of Alcohol Addiction and Withdrawal

There are a number of signs that are very common about addiction to alcohol consistent for most people suffering from the disease. Most people find it difficult to concentrate, they will miss important scheduled events like work or school or other planned events. Their sleep patterns change significantly. Some may find it difficult to sleep. Some may sleep too much. Since alcoholism results in failures to keep appearances with friends, family and work, sometimes these relationships are strained to the point of complete failure.

Signs of withdrawal from alcohol are excessive sweating, nausea, irritability, depression, mood swings, insomnia, black-outs, delirium tremens (DT’s) and heart palpitations. If you experience any of these symptoms you should call a treatment center immediately.

Recovery From Alcoholism

Step One

The first and hardest step for most people suffering from alcohol addiction is coming to terms with the fact that you need help. Most people that suffer from alcohol dependency have a very difficult time accepting help for a number of reasons: it’s embarrassing to admit you need help; you don’t want to leave your friends and family and, perhaps the hardest part, you don’t want to stop drinking because it may very well be the last thing that seems to be stopping the pain from completely taking hold of your day-to-day life. Getting past these fears is difficult and necessary if you want to live the life you truly deserve. You can call Sober Freedom 24 hours a day or enter your information in to the contact form on this page and we will get back to you as soon as possible to help you reach the next step.

Step Two

Once you’ve made the decision to call Sober Freedom, the next step is getting you in to a treatment program. Sober Freedom makes it easy for people in need of treatment by handling all of the necessary paperwork for you. We’ll make the calls to your insurance provider for you. We’ll help you obtain means of paying for treatment even if you don’t have insurance. We’ll answer all your questions about the facility, about your individual program and even help you arrange to get to the treatment center even if you don’t have means of transportation.

Step Three

If You Need Detox Services Detox may be necessary for some but not all. If you require a stay at a detox facility, we will set up a plan to get you to there before you enter treatment. If you’ve been addicted to alcohol for a long time and of you have been consistently drinking just prior to calling a treatment facility, you may very well need to briefly stay at a detox facility. The typical signs you may need detox are associated with the withdrawal symptoms of alcoholism themselves. Sweating excessively, irritability, anxiety, depression and mood swings are typical signs of withdrawal from alcohol. If you feel these symptoms if you do not drink, you may need to detox before entering rehab.

Step Four

Working through your treatment program is the path towards living a clean and sober life. Your treatment stay may last 30, 60 or 90 days depending on your individual needs. Before you leave treatment, your counselors will help you develop a plan to re-integrate back in to the world safely, with a solid plan for continuing sobriety long in to the future. Treatment for every person is different and the right approach for you will be unique. Your ongoing treatment program after you leave the facility will be designed to fit your individual needs and you will develop a network of people to call if you are ever in need of help or assistance.
